Both seem completely at odds with others – image quality and size. It was a golden rule since the invention photography that the camera over an area with higher registration (either in money or silicon) which – equal – produce a picture quality higher. And for photographers schlep around cameras and lenses that increase, all in the quest for optimal image.

That's about the size characters used for current digital SLRs, like the Canon 40D and Nikon D300, and slightly larger than the 4 / 3 format used by Olympus and others in their digital SLRs.
To make the comparison a little easier to see by comparing the diagonals of these formats. The Ricoh GR 2 and Canon G9 (apparatus Digital Cameras and others) have sensors with a diagonal of about 10 mm. In addition, Format 4 / 3 digital SLR, such as Olympus, has a diagonal 22.5 mm. Typical of a Nikon or Canon or Pentax DSLR with APS-C size sensor has almost a diagonal measuring approximately 28 mm. Godzilla was right – size does matter.
